With 225 years of history under their belt, Birkenstock is definitely doing something right. From humble beginnings in rural Germany, the Birkenstock family has built a worldwide industry based on one simple idea—shoes shouldn’t be flat.
Konrad Birkenstock introduced contoured footbeds in 1897. The idea was unusual, strange, revolutionary. Sixty-seven years later, Karl Birkenstock created the first Birkenstock sandal. Only two years later in 1964, an American named Margot Fraser sought relief for her aching feet while visiting Germany. What did she find? A pair of Birkenstock sandals.
Convinced of their health benefits, Margot began importing Birkenstock shoes to California. With the debut of the Arizona sandal in 1973, Birkenstock’s popularity exploded throughout the country. Today, Birkenstock is the recipient of many prestigious awards and one of the most iconic shoe brands in the United States. The company now has an extensive line of Birkenstock sandals, Birkenstock clogs, and Birkenstock shoes.
Birkenstock’s philosophy is simple—a shoe should match the contours of one’s foot. Every Birkenstock features the same support—a deep heel cup for balance and stability, an arch support for every lift and curve, and a toe bar for natural grip while walking.
Birkenstock’s manufacturing is equally simple—a shoe should be made of real, natural materials. Crafted from cork, Birkenstock footbeds mold to each person’s unique footprint. Layered with woven jute and topped with a leather liner, Birkenstock footwear is unadorned, tangible, honest.
At Original Comfort Sandals, we understand that Birkenstocks make for healthy feet. And healthy feet make for happy people. Let us show you how much we like these shoes and why you should like them, too.

Fit review: true to size |
| I have been wearing the Birk. Gizeh since August and needed a pair for cooler weather and chose this style orginally wanted the maryjane style, but they werent available in my size. This color is very casual. The leather has a worn look to it, but thats the style intended. Theyre great with jeans or khakis. They are comfortable with or without socks. I wear a 7 1/2 shoe and order the size 38 Birk. and the fit is great. This is my second pair to purchase from originalcomforsandals.com and so far I have been pleased. I can not find a better deal on price or shipping. |

| I thought that I was getting a soft footbed of the Milano sandal so I had to return the sandals when they were regular footbed ones. |

| I would recommend Original Comfort to anyone that is in the market for Birkenstock shoes. So far they are the only shoes I have ordered from them but they are exactly what I wanted. The purchase came promptly and I intend to use them for future purchases. Thank you. |
